I recently watched the film ‘Life’ – which is based on the true friendship of photographer Dennis Stock and James Dean that occurred when Stock was on assignment to shoot a photo essay of Dean before his rise to fame.
Directed by Anton Corbijn and written by Luke Davies it is an interestingly, quiet and slow movie about the making of these iconic images.

Whilst it was met with mixed reviews, particularly claims by those that knew the late Dennis Stock to be an inaccurate portrayal of his character & their friendship – it is still definately worth a watch.
Starring Robert Pattinson as Stock and Dane DeHaan as Dean it is set in early 1955 – and sees the pair travel to James Deans family home – a cattle farm in Indiana. Sadly this is the last visit James makes home as he is killed later that year in September.

James Dean spent his youth on his uncle Marcus Winslow’s Indiana farm.
