….is one of the coolest people i know.
I met her in the front row of a Sia concert. She is Danish (lives in Copenhagen), is a jewelry designer, an artist & has a blog you will fall in love with.
Miss Lela took some time out to answer a few…
When did your blog ‘Glaspop Super’ start?
March 2010.
What was your motivation behind starting it?
I found so many pictures online and took so many photos with my phone. I was posting them on Facebook, but I wanted a place where I could just post my pictures and people didn’t have to comment or have an opinion. Where I could post without feeling I was spamming people. When I first started my blog, Tumblr was very new and I didn’t know about followers and reblogs etc.
How many followers does your blog have?
1,247 from tumblr. I don’t know how many people outside tumblr. I know a few of my friends follow it.
What do you see outside your studio window?
Copenhagen rooftops, trees and sometimes a big ship leaving the harbour.
When you need inspiration for a new blog post what do you do?
I usually have ideas for new stuff I want to find. Be it from a specific time, a picture of a specific person or some music. Some things have become tradition. Like I always post new music videos from artists I like and magazine covers from the 80’s and 90’s.
How did you come up with the name for your blog?
In the beginning the blog was just called Lela (that’s what my friends call me). But when I was living in Vancouver, Canada, I decided to make it less about me and more a collage of things and needed a new name. Vancouver is called “city of glass” because of all the glass buildings, so I wanted “glass” in the name (Glass is glas in Danish). The blog is VERY “pop” and it sounded cool. “Super” was like the icing on the cake. And so it became Glaspop Super.
If not in Copenhagen, where would you live?
Vancouver or Portland.
Do you remember your first fashion purchase? What was it?
It was a woolen skirt from Miu Miu. It was expensive even though I got it on sale. I treasured it! It was SO beautiful and classy.
Who are your favourite clothing designers/labels?
Issey Miyake, Moonspoon Saloon, Versace, Moschino, Chanel, Mads Nørgaard – to name a few.
Who are your favourite bloggers?
Decida, The Gorgeous Daily and US gossip blogs.
Your blog seems to be focused on colour, icons, print & the 80’s….is that how you would describe it?
Yes. I post my own photos, but Glaspop Super has become kind of a “walk down memory lane”. I love finding art, music, fashion, furniture etc. from my teenage/younger years. And colours make me happy!
What camera do you use to take your photos?
Panasonic Lumix and iPhone 4S
If you could go back in time to live in another era- when would it be?
The 80’s – so I could meet Keith Haring.
What music are you listening to right now?
Right now: The Knife.
Recently: Stromae, The The, FKA twigs, Antony & The Johnsons, Miss B. Haven, Neil Young, MS MR.
Regularly: David Bowie, Sia and M A N Y more. Music can’t be overrated.
What piece from your wardrobe is your current favorite?
My black/white striped shirt from H&M and my Moschino shirt from Devantier Vintage.
Who are some of your style icons?
Early Madonna if I should name an icon. Two Danes with great, personal style, are Christel Pixi Siebenhaar and my favourite artist, Anika Lori (I have posted most of her art on my blog through the years). Rihanna dresses quite fierce some times. I love Vivienne Westwood.
Maria ‘Decida’ Wahlberg from Sweden is the coolest. She’s Robyn’s stylist and directed her last video. Isabella Blow must be mentioned too. I could go on and on.
